Search and Rescue

Humboldt County Sheriff's Posse is an all  volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the support of the Sheriff's legal function to protect life and property in Humboldt County.

Humboldt County  encompasses 2.3 million acres, 80 percent of which is forestlands, protected redwoods and recreation areas.  Our county includes a 110-mile coastline and mountains with a dozen peaks rising more than 2000 feet.  Of all 58 of California’s counties, Humboldt County is in 14th by size and 35th by population.  Humboldt County is served by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department and we are the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Posse, an all volunteer Search and Rescue squad with 35 members in squads including Ground, Mounted, Marine and Canine.
